November 21st Workday

It started out early and a little chilly. Cold air from the Missouri River valley seeped into the crevices of Wyandotte County Lake Park and brought with it the fog. We had a record of 68 volunteers show up to build some new single track and continue improvements to the bridle trails.

The weather slowly warmed through the day and the fog eventually burned off. The sun finally came out towards the end of the day. There were two crews working on the upper and two working the lower trail of Phase One, one crew started the connector trail to the fisherman's trail which is actually part of phase two. We also had a crew lengthening a few of the switchbacks on the bridle trail trying to improve the descent from the old gazebo to the bottom of the dam.

We broke for lunch provided by the Earth Riders Mountain Biking Club (BBQ) and a few veggie dishes from several folks.  During lunch there were several great raffle prizes from Epic Bike and Sport. We also gave away a beautiful "spicy chili - Talon 11" technical day-pack provided by Osprey Packs. Nearly everyone received a $10 gift card good through December 31st from Dynamic Earth. It seemed as though almost every volunteer left with something.

The upper trail of Phase One is complete with the exception of a few places that need some touch up. We also have a big start on the lower trail of Phase One. It is amazing to see how much work this great group of volunteers was able to accomplish in one short day. Not to mention we all had a lot of fun too.

The Trail Masons and ERTA are very thankful to all the volunteers that came out today. Special Thanks to the Earth Riders for taking care of lunch, our sponsors Dynamic Earth, Osprey, and Gerber Tools for providing items for the raffle. Also thanks to Dick Ross for coming out and taking photos throughout the day http://www.seekcrun.com/. You can see all the great photos Dick took at this link
